Today’s Forecast:
Record breaking heat is possible across a few areas in southern Colorado this afternoon. A strong heat ridge remains locked in place over the 4 corners region and that means the heat we brought in Monday is going to surge back this afternoon. Colorado Springs will warm to the low 90s and likely just be shy of the record temperature of 92. Pueblo will likely break the record of 97 set back in 2006 with a forecast high of 98. A few mountain thunderstorms are possible in northern Fremont and Teller counties but the majority of our area will stay dry. If we can get a few thunderstorms to form east of Crowley, Lincoln and Otero counties we could see severe weather with large hail and strong winds.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High – 91; Low – 57. Hot and mainly dry today but a stray thunderstorm could jump the mountains into the north side of the city.

PUEBLO: High – 98; Low – 58. Very hot and dry with record temperatures possible.

CANON CITY: High – 95; Low – 58. Hot and dry but isolated storms in northern Fremont county are possible.

WOODLAND PARK: High – 77; Low – 50. Very warm with spotty mid afternoon thunderstorms possible. Any storms would dry up fairly quickly.

TRI-LAKES: High – 80s; Low – 50s. Very warm and mainly dry today but a brief thunderstorms this afternoon could clip the area.

PLAINS: High – 90s/100s; Low – 60s. Very hot and dry today but east of Lincoln, Crowley, Otero and Las Animas county any thunderstorms that form this afternoon and early tonight could become severe with large hail and strong winds as the main threats.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High – 90s; Low – 60s. Hot and dry today with a bit more of an afternoon breeze.

WEEKEND OUTLOOK OR NEXT WEATHER MAKER
Warm and dry weather remains the big story through the remainder of the week. We’ll see Pueblo likely hit the first 100 of the year on Friday with Colorado Springs about 8 or so degrees behind it through the weekend.
