Weather Alert Day: Strong Morning Winds Today

Today’s Forecast:
A cold front that pushed through the area overnight into this morning is dragging very strong winds with it from El Paso county down south through Pueblo to the border and out into the plains. Early morning gusts were in the 40s in Colorado Springs and 30s in Pueblo with similar wind speeds expected through the morning into the noon hour. After noon we’ll start to see the winds relax as the cool front pulls away and the evening commute will see speeds between 10 to 20 mph instead of the 30 to 40 mph winds from the morning. Temperatures will stay mild today with Colorado Springs warming to the upper 50s and Pueblo the mid 60s.

PUEBLO: High – 64; Low – 36. Gusts up to 45mph this morning with lighter afternoon winds. Calm and cold tonight.

CANON CITY: High – 62; Low – 36. Breezy today with a few morning gusts up near 20mph. Calm and cool tonight.

WOODLAND PARK: High – 47; Low – 30. Breezy today with a few morning gusts up near 20mph. Calm and cool tonight.

TRI-LAKES: High – 50s; Low – 30s. Gusts up to 30mph this morning with lighter afternoon winds. Calm and cold tonight.

PLAINS: High – 60s; Low – 30s. Gusts up to 45mph this morning with lighter afternoon winds. Calm and cold tonight.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High – 60s; Low – 30s. Gusts up to 35mph this morning with lighter afternoon winds. Calm and cold tonight.

WEEKEND OUTLOOK OR NEXT WEATHER MAKER: 
Friday looks like one of the best days of the year! We’ll see sunny skies, light winds and highs in the 70s across the area. Saturday we’ll pick up a bit more wind, the temperatures will be warmer, but we’ll also bring back scattered thunderstorm chances through the afternoon. We’ll be dry on Sunday and Monday but strong winds will keep fire danger elevated.
