Tonight’s Forecast:
Winds remain very gusty this evening with incredibly high fire danger and blowing dust. We’ve had several fires pop up during the day. Winds will be shifting from the southwest to the northwest as a cold front moves through this evening. Still avoid anything that could start a fire including burning, shooting, and tossing cigarette butts. Winds do improve overnight, but they’ll stay breezy and they’ll likely still cause issues for firefighters. Lows tonight will be in the 20’s and 30’s.

COLORADO SPRINGS: Low – 27, High – 58. Very strong winds and high fire danger this evening before winds improve a bit overnight. Calmer and a bit cooler Wednesday.

PUEBLO: Low – 27, High – 64. Gusty winds and high fire danger this evening then winds improve tonight. Much calmer for tomorrow.

CANON CITY: Low – 29, High – 62. Strong winds and fire danger early before winds improve heading into Wednesday.

WOODLAND PARK: Low – 20, High – 56. Gusty winds and fire danger early. Much calmer tomorrow.

TRI-LAKES: Low – 20’s, High – 50’s. Strong winds and fire danger this evening. Calmer conditions tomorrow.

PLAINS: Low – Near 30, High – 60’s. Gusty winds with very high fire danger early. A big improvement in winds for Wednesday.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: Low – 20’s, High – 60’s. Very windy with very high fire danger this evening. Calmer and slightly cooler tomorrow.

REST OF THE WEEK: Wind improve considerably for Wednesday with highs in the 60’s. Winds increase again for Thursday with gusts well over 40 mph at times. Another round of Red Flag Warnings will be likely. Highs will be in the 60’s to low 70’s. A system will arrive on Friday to finally give us a decent shot of moisture. We should see mainly areas of rain and even a few thunderstorms on Friday with gusty winds at times. Some of that rain will change to snow overnight and into Saturday, especially for the higher elevations. Conditions improve gradually throughout the later part of Saturday. Should be a decent amount of moisture with this system and hopefully that will really help the fire danger issues we’ve been dealing with, even if only for a short time.
