AURORA, Colo. — RTD said that A Line service has resumed after a collision Monday morning shut down the line for several hours.
At least four people, including the train operator, were injured after a semitruck collided with an A Line commuter train in Aurora, causing significant damage and disruption of service.
Authorities said the train operator was taken to the hospital for injuries from broken glass, while four of the 55 passengers on board the train sustained minor injuries. The driver of the semitruck was not injured.
The train was evacuated, and passengers heading to Denver International Airport were put on shuttle buses that were put in operation to replace A Line service from Central Park Station to 40th Avenue and Airport Boulevard at the Gateway Station, RTD said.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Smith Road and Sable Boulevard and caused significant damage to train cars, rail crossing and safety equipment, which halted rail service for several hours.
Around 3 p.m., RTD announced A Line service resumed between Central Park and 40th Avenue and Airport stations, but passengers may experience some delays.
The agency said crews will continue to make repairs at the crossing through Tuesday morning.
