COLORADO SPRINGS — Switchbacks FC hosted an intrasquad showdown Saturday night at Weidner Field as a tune-up to next week's USL Championship restart.

Luke Ferreira and Will Vint each scored and Abraham Rodriguez was stellar between the posts as the road squad defended the home squad, 2-0.

"It was absolutely vital tonight for all of us to go through a dry run. I think it was imperative for operations, stadium personnel, coaching staff, players, for everybody. We haven't played a home game yet," said Switchbacks Head Coach, Alan Koch. "I think we can get some of the challenges out of the way and hopefully come back and put in a good showing next week and get three points."

Prior to tonight's matchup, the team took a knee and held a moment of silence for those who've lost their lives due to racial injustice.

Next weekend, Colorado Springs is back to league action for the first time since March, when they host New Mexico United at 5 p.m.

It's the first look at the reconstructed schedule which has the team matched with some of the league's best in Group C.

"We're assessing how the players deal with adversity, how they step up to the plate," Koch said. "I'm actually happy we're in a tough group, it gives us a good body to access our players and our group, and see how far we've come in a short amount of time."
