COLORADO SPRINGS — In a battle of the top girls basketball teams in Class 3A and 5A, St. Mary's hung tough but fell to Cherry Creek 66-44 Thursday night.
A solid early-season test for both squads, the Lady Pirates and Bruins came into the showdown ranked No. 1 in the state.
Across town, the No. 4 team in Class 4A, Air Academy jumped out to a 12-2 start and cruised past Littleton, 48-25.
