The Sand Creek and Manitou Springs boys basketball teams opened their 2021 seasons with impressive victories Thursday night.
Thanks to solid play on both ends of the floor, the Scorpions held off Pine Creek, 70-61.
Across town, the No. 4 Mustangs (Class 3A) used a 17-point effort from Isaiah Thomas to cruise past Rye, 50-27.
Sand Creek returns to action Tuesday night when they host Mitchell at 6 p.m. Manitou Springs is right back to work, welcoming Peyton to their home gym Friday night at 7 p.m.
