COLORADO SPRINGS — With one sick grab of his zip-up hoodie, Palmer Ridge's Kaden Dudley made it official.
"Next fall, I'm taking my talents to Boise State," Dudley said.
Having previously committed to the University of Colorado in November, the two-way standout re-opened his recruitment following the departure of head coach Mel Tucker. Six months later, the senior-to-be has found another great fit with the Broncos.
"I think the blue-collar work ethic is a big reason why I made the decision, as well as the work ethic overall," Dudley said. "The coaches all played there, their roots are in Boise. It's a top 25 program, playing bowl games every year can't argue with that, it's a great opportunity."
The three-star Bears standout and top receiver in the state went through peaks and valleys in the process and is glad to put this journey to bed.
"I'm going to sleep well tonight," Dudley joked.
"He's always been strong-minded, even when he was little he knew what he wanted and went after it," Kaden's father David Dudley said. "I'm just really proud of him and the person he is."
Setting goals has always been part of what motivates Dudley on the field and he's hoping to hit the "Smurf Turf" running in 2021.
"I'm ready to go in there and compete with the best of the best," Dudley said. "Boise State has some of the best programs so like I said just ready to compete."
While he originally hoped to stay in Colorado, the Broncos do come to Colorado Springs twice in his college football tenure. Two special trips to ball out in front of his hometown fans.
"I'm just happy I get to come home twice, play in home stadiums, just look forward to it and can't wait," Dudley said.
However, first, there's a more immediate goal at hand: Adding a fourth state title as Palmer Ridge moves up to Class 4A this season.
"Super fortunate to even be in a position, to get a fourth ring," Dudley said. "Super stoked and looking forward to it."
