MONUMENT — Lewis-Palmer head football coach Dustin Tupper could be all-state in COVID-19 pre-checks at Don Breese Stadium.
"We didn't know how many would but they all showed up, every single player," Tupper said. "Which was amazing; that just showed they were ready."
About seven weeks into the Rangers new normal, the seventh-year coach says the team is getting the hang of things.
"As soon as we went to two weeks of groups of 10, then three weeks of 25, now it was just navigating how you got your groups of 25 in and around," Tupper said.
Last night, a "just reward" for the Orange and Black as the pads came on for the first time in their camp.
"There's only so many things you can do and when you put the pads on it gets real," Tupper said. "So they're like racehorses, they're twitchy and ready to go."
A small taste of what they hope will be a chance to take a step forward from last year's 4-6 campaign.
"To tell you the truth the first two days of camp here have been the best two days I've had," Tupper said. "So they're sharp, they're eager."
Until they receive word from CHSAA regarding the status of the 2020 season, they'll simply keep their head down and their feet moving.
"We can't control what's going on outside, the only thing we can control is us," Tupper said. "So that's what we are going to do and nobody has had a somber face, nobody has been down, they're ready to go."
