SAN FRANCISCO — On Tuesday, the San Francisco Giants announced the signing of Pueblo West alum & 4th round pick Roderick (RJ) Dabovich to a deal with a $200,000 signing bonus, according to Jim Callis from MLB.com.
The assigned slot value for the pick was $507,400, so Dabovich’s agreement saves $307,400 in pool money that will go towards the over-slot signings of two other Giants draft picks.
Dabovich posted a 0.77 ERA (1er, 11.2ip) with 17 strikeouts and four saves over nine games for Arizona State before the 2020 season was canceled.
In his first season with the Sun Devils in 2019, he posted a 7-1 record with a 4.75 ERA (28er, 53.0ip) in 16 games (nine starts).
While with the Cyclones, Dabovich was ranked as the No. 9 overall player in the state of Colorado and the No. 5 right-handed pitcher in the state coming out of high school.
