WIDEFIELD — In a rare Tuesday Matinee at C.A. Foster Stadium, Liberty held off Widefield 17-7 for their first win of the season.
Lancers junior quarterback Aidan Swanson threw for two touchdown passes in the victory. The first, a 65-yard touchdown strike to Luiz Alamo to put the road squad up 10-7 at halftime.
Gladiators two-way standout D.J. Allen returned a kickoff for a touchdown and forced a fumble in the loss.
Both teams return to action this Saturday at Garry Berry Stadium. Widefield will take on Palmer at 9 a.m., followed by Liberty hosting Thornton. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
