COLORADO SPRINGS – The Colorado Springs Sky Sox will announce the team’s new name following months of anticipation.
The organization announced that a change was coming this June, when they opened up naming suggestions to fans. Following that process, the team announced five finalists for the new name in July.
- Colorado Springs Happy Campers
- Colorado Springs Lamb Chops
- Colorado Springs Punchy Pikas
- Colorado Springs Throttle Jockeys
- Rocky Mountain Oysters
Along with the new name, new logos colors, merchandise and the 2019 schedule will also be unveiled during the announcement at 11:30 a.m.
According to the organization, the winner was determined based on originality, creativity, regional relevance and “appropriateness” for the fan base.
The new team will be the Rookie-Advanced affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. The 2018 season was the final season the Sky Sox will play as an AAA affiliate.
The Sky Sox used to be an affiliate of the Colorado Rockies from 1993 to the 2014 season.
