FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State has named Steve Addazio as the Rams' new head football coach, the school announced on Wednesday.
Addazio, 60, will replace Mike Bobo, who parted ways with CSU last week following a 4-8 season.
Addazio was the head coach at Boston College from 2013 until he was fired on Dec. 1 after a 6-6 season.
Addazio was also head coach at Temple in 2011 and 2012. His overall head coaching record is 57-55.
Addazio agreed to a five-year contract with a base salary of $1.5 million per year and a $50,000 increase each season, according to a press release from CSU.
The arrival of Addazio will likely mark a stark change in the Rams' attack. Under Bobo, CSU featured a passing game that consistently ranked at or near the top of the Mountain West Conference. Addazio, who has a background as an offensive line coach, had teams at Boston College with powerful rushing attacks.
The Eagles ranked sixth in the country in 2019 with 267.8 rushing yards per game, and Addazio's squads featured a 1,000-yard rusher in five of his seven seasons at the school.
Addazio will be introduced as the Rams' new coach at a 3 p.m. press conference Thursday on the CSU campus.
