Air Force women's basketball falls to UNLV to start the year

USAFA — Air Force came up short of a comeback against Mountain West Conference foe UNLV, falling to the Lady Rebels, 67-60, Saturday afternoon in Clune Arena.

The Falcons drop to 3-11 on the season with a 1-2 mark in the league while UNLV improved to 6-8 overall with a 2-1 record in conference play.

Sophomore guard Haley Jones led the Falcons with a career-high 17 points on the night.

UNLV's Leticia Smith led the Lady Rebels with 20 points, three assists, three steals and three boards. Smith shot 77-percent from the field on the game. Teammate Rodjanae Wade dropped 14 points and collected a game high 12 rebounds for the only double-double performance of the day.

Next up, the Falcons hit the road to take on the Utah State Aggies, Wednesday (Jan. 8) at 7 p.m. in Dee Glen Smith Spectrum, Logan, Utah.
