COLORADO SPRINGS — He is 6 foot 5 - 185 pounds, and he still can't drive a car, yet Vista Ridge quarterback Brayden Dorman has been driving the Wolverine offense for the past 2 years.
The secret is officially out on the young QB. After throwing over 500 yards and 7 touchdowns last week against Mesa Ridge, Doorman is now considered one of the best signal-callers in the state of Colorado.
"Last year, being a 14-year-old and playing against 17, 18-year-olds, my body did take a beating and I think this year I can take a lot more of those hits and be fine," said Dorman.
The sophomore has been putting up eye-popping numbers this season, which include leading the state in passing yards and touchdowns
"He spreads the ball around," explained Vista Ridge head coach Jason Cauley. "People wouldn't think we are a balanced team, but we throw the ball 85-90% of the time. But I think if we are getting the ball to 12 different people a game, I think that is pretty balanced right there."
And people are starting to take notice, the 16-year-old already has two Division I offers, one of which is from CU, who just offered him this past week.
"It is a lot of pressure, to be honest," explained Dorman. "Of course, you got people who believe that they deserve it more than you do, but it takes a lot of work and effort."
But for right now, Brayden is letting his play do the talking, as he prepares for a match-up against Pueblo West, with plenty of playoff implications on the line.
"It would be a big win for us and the school. We haven't made the playoffs in two years; it would be a big win for all of us."
