COLORADO SPRINGS — Industries are continuing to rebound from the impacts of COVID-19, and this includes the Colorado Springs Airport.

As News 5 first reported in October, Southwest Airlines will offer its service at Colorado Springs Airport beginning in March.

Construction is well underway on the new gates, terminals and ticket counters.

"We don't anticipate a lot of interaction between construction crews and our customers at Colorado Springs Airport," said Joe Nevill, the Air Serice Development Manager. "A lot of the construction is being done after hours, or off peak after flights have departed for the day."

Southwest is scheduled to start offering flights out of the airport on March 11.

Up to this point, Coloradans who wanted to fly on Southwest would have to travel to Denver. The Colorado Springs Airport is currently serviced by four airlines: American Airlines, Delta, Frontier and United.
