COLORADO SPRINGS — We're keeping track of local southern Colorado restaurants, bars and coffee shops that are still open for business, offering delivery or take-out options for Coloradans during the COVID-19 crisis.

Now is the time to support local businesses if you're able to and enjoy great food at the same time!

In this week's #TakeoutTuesday, we are featuring El Taco Rey in Colorado Springs located at 330 E. Colorado Ave.

El Taco Rey has been serving Colorado Springs since 1976.

Owned by the Aguilar family, El Taco Rey's goal is to serve fresh, hot delicious southern Colorado / northern New Mexico cuisine with a smile!

Julie Lees Howell tells News5 that it is one of her favorite Mexican restaurants and that the award-winning green chili is one of the best in Colorado.

"I love the chicken enchiladas with either the red sauce or green chili, and their smothered chicken chimichanga," said Howell. "This is the only place I order chimichangas because it stays crispy, even with the green chili, and it is not greasy whatsoever."

Howell adds that their staff is always friendly - even when they are crazy busy - which is most of the time! The place is always spotless and abides by COVID-19 precautions.

El Taco Rey is open Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and offers daily special that you can view right here.

The restaurant has parking located in the back parking lot right off Wahsatch Street.
