LOUISVILLE, Colo. – A Louisville family is on a mission to save a piece of our Colorado history.
The city’s iconic train cars restaurant is slated to be demolished in January 2020, but the Ramos family wants to save and restore the 104-year-old caboose which has been there for decades, consequently falling into disrepair.
“Fifty years is a long time for it to be in downtown Louisville,” said a member of the Ramos family. “People have come to know and love it, and if it were suddenly gone, there would be something missing.”
The cost of saving the caboose is about $10,000 and now they’re asking for your help.
More than 60% of the money has been raised, but the family still has 19 days to go to reach their goal.
The Ramos family isn’t sure what they will do with the caboose and box cars, but they hope to turn them into something the people of Louisville can enjoy.
