PUEBLO — The 25th annual Chile and Frijoles festival begins Friday in downtown Pueblo and this year some extra light is shining on the frijole.

Pueblo's chiles are often in the spotlight, but this year organizers are throwing in some extra fun for the beans.

The Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce has launched a "Don't forget about the Frijole campaign."

The festival will feature a frijole pit to play in as well as a separate frijole spitting contest.

The festival gates open at 3:00 p.m. Friday, visitors can expect to find roasting chiles, of course, plenty of frijoles for sale as well as live music, food and fun.

News 5 will be broadcasting live Friday evening from Pueblo featuring Elizabeth Watts and Mike Daniels.
