EL PASO COUNTY — El Paso County Sheriff Deputy Bethany Gibson will not face charges after shooting a suspect in the line of duty on May 29.

The 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office says Daniel Nunez approached the Deputy with a gun and ignored commands to drop it.

Deputy Gibson fired one shot that hit Nunez in the leg.

Nunez has recovered and is facing a charge of threatening an officer with a weapon. He is set to be in court on Sept. 22.
