MORGAN COUNTY — The body of a woman missing since a July 4 jet skiing accident on Jackson Lake State Park was recovered Saturday morning by Colorado Parks & Wildlife officials and is now in the custody of the Morgan County Coroner.
Around 4 p.m. Thursday, there was an accident as four people were on a jet ski when it overturned. According to Parks & Wildlife, two of the people who went in the water were not wearing life vests. A search got underway immediately and lasted until midnight Friday. Crews were back on the water Friday morning and again until midnight utilizing sonar, dive teams and remote operated vehicles.
The woman's body was found underwater more than 150 yards from the boat ramp. Her name is being withheld pending positive identification from the coroner's office.
"We offer our condolences to the family and friends of this person," said Jackson Lake Park Manager Tyler Sewald. "I appreciate the efforts of our park staff and thank the fire departments, dive team and sheriff's office for their hard work at the scene during this operation. The support of the community and park visitors was outstanding and assisted us in this operation.”
