At 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, a park ranger was flagged down by someone near the north picnic area of Lake Pueblo State Park and told a woman had fallen in the water.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife said the ranger was alerted to a woman floating in chest-deep water and pulled her to shore. She was unconscious and not breathing.

The ranger performed CPR on the woman for about 15 minutes until paramedics arrived and took over. Despite life-saving efforts, the woman was pronounced dead, CPW said.

The Pueblo County Coroner's Office will determine a cause of death and identify the victim.
