COLORADO SPRINGS — We have a reminder for you tonight ahead of the weather coming Thursday.

Leaving your car running, unattended, to warm it up in cold weather is called "puffing" and it's illegal in Colorado.

Police say this practice is illegal for good reason.

This time of year, criminals are looking for cars left running and they will often steal you car and then use it to commit other crimes.

So far this year, Colorado Springs Police have received 186 puffing related calls for service. They all happened during the colder months of the first quarter of the year.

A fine for puffing in Colorado Springs will cost you $60.
