PUEBLO — As summer comes to a close, officials have an important reminder for everyone after a close call at Lake Pueblo State Park.
A tuber was rescued on Monday after the person driving the boat pulling the tuber behind them, lost the tuber.
The boat did not have a spotter, which is against the law.
If you are caught without one, it results in a citation and $100 fine.
The message Monique Mullis, a park manager, wants to get across is to always have a spotter with a red or orange flag.
"All of those things are so critical because a simple boating trip can turn into a tragedy very easily if you are not following the rules and you are not being safe and focused," Mullis said.
Mullis added this incident could have been much worse if the tuber would have been hurt or even killed.
