MONUMENT — If you've been thinking about finding interesting volunteer opportunities in El Paso County, but just didn't know where to start, Thursday's volunteer fair in the Town of Monument may be able to guide you in the right direction.
26 different organizations will be packed into the YMCA Center in the Town of Monument to recruit volunteers starting at 4 p.m. Door prizes and refreshments will be provided.
This is the first event of its kind in the Town of Monument and it's presented by the Tri-lakes YMCA, the Town of Monument and JustServe, a resource that links volunteers with the community.
"We really saw a need in our community to match our organizations with those members of the community who wanted to get involved," said Madeline VanDenHoek, a spokesperson for the Town of Monument.
"So we decided to match our organizations with those members of the community who wanted to get involved and so we decided to bring them all together in one space where they could find out what everyone has to offer and find that great match for them."
