Large turnout at funeral for veteran with no known family

COLORADO SPRINGS — More than 100 people showed up at Pikes Peak National Cemetery Friday morning to attend a funeral for Staff Sergeant Clyde Baldwin.

Baldwin, an Air Force veteran, had no known family to attend the service.

The Cheyenne Mountain VFW used social media and other avenues to call attention to SSGT Baldwin in hopes of getting locals to attend.

PREVIOUS:

On Friday, a retired veteran of the US Air Force will be laid to rest at Pikes Peak National Cemetery.

Staff Sergeant Clyde Baldwin served our country from 1950 to 1970.

His funeral is at 9 a.m. on Feb. 7. He has no known family members to be at his side.

The Cheyenne Mountain Veterans of Foreign Wars post is hoping by putting out a public notice, Staff Sergeant Baldwin won't be alone Friday morning.
