PUEBLO — The Arkansas River Trail in Pueblo could be receiving some upgrades in the near future.

Pueblo is set to receive $1 million from the state and the goal is to use that money to connect the Grove neighborhood and the lower west side to the Arkansas River Trail.

"It is very exciting to see this project actually happen. We are going to put the basic bones of this project with a concrete trail between Fourth and Main Street and then we will have some money for trail amenities like shade structures and benches," Principle Planner, Beritt Odom said.

City Council will still have to approve the exchange, but if they do, work should be done by 2022.
