COLORADO SPRINGS — Summer is winding down but many local road projects are continuing to move forward.

Colorado Springs' 2C funded repaving project is ongoing, and Platte Ave, between Union and Wahsatch, is one major road still being worked on.

Most of the concrete curb and gutter work is wrapping up, but the city still needs to finish the drainage pipe work under the roadway. This will free up standing water and prevent street flooding.

"We found that we do have a pipe to nowhere," said Colorado Springs Public Works Operations and Maintenence Division Manager Corey Farkas. "It's old, it's probably been there since that street was built, way, way, way back in the day. And, so that pipe just carries water and the water backs up onto the roadway. Well, we're going to go ahead and take that and actually get that water where it needs to go."

Farkas reminds everyone to slow down in all the cone zones across the city.
