PUEBLO — Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the United Way of Pueblo County's annual fundraising campaign kickoff will continue but with a few changes.
For the 98th Annual Campaign Kickoff, a revised hybrid event will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. with a small VIP in-person component and the majority of attendees accessing the livestream of the in-person event.
"It's normally one of those things where we have 350 people in a room for a luncheon. Unfortunately, because of COVID-19, we want to make sure we are being respectful of everyone's health and not putting anyone at risk during the COVID-19 pandemic," said Bianca Hicks, United Way director of Marketing, Events, and Initiatives. “We are encouraging those watching remotely, to plan ahead and order a bite to eat and something to sip on from our Flavor of Pueblo partners. This industry has been hit hard during the pandemic. We’re hoping to shine a light on them, their delicious food and drinks, and all they do in support of our community."
The event will feature the announcement of the 2020 Campaign Chair, a fundraising component to serve as first dollars in, and a comedy bit performed by the one and only Craig Eliot Cisney to provide some much-needed laughs.
Hicks says she is confident they'll be able to get the Pueblo community excited about fundraising and what it means for their organization. Due to the pandemic, are only 50 people allowed to attend the VIP reception. Masks are required and only five people are allowed at a table.
"It's definitely a different environment, but I think that now more than ever the work of United Way of Pueblo County is so very critical for our community," said Hicks. "This is a key event for United Way and it's a reminder that we'll be knocking on your door and you'll be seeing us in your workplace."
All contributions made to the fundraising campaign will benefit the Cornerstone Partner Fund. Cornerstone Partners help strengthen the campaign by offsetting operational costs and reducing the percentage of these costs through their gifts.
