COLORADO SPRINGS — UCHealth Memorial hospitals in Colorado Springs continue to make plans for a potential increase of patients with COVID-19.
72 rooms at Memorial Central and North have been converted to negative airflow rooms to limit the spread of the virus and to better protect health care workers and patients.
'We saw the need to go ahead and add 61 rooms additional to that by just manipulating the HVAC system and also adding HEPA filters to make those rooms isolation rooms also,' Facilities Director, Mike Haijsman said.
These special rooms also make long shifts for nurses and doctors a little less cumbersome because the rooms keep the hallway air safe.
