COLORADO SPRINGS — If you're driving around downtown Colorado Springs you may notice some colorful additions to the sidewalks.

A group of UCCS art students were given the opportunity to add their artistic touch to several power boxes around the city. The boxes now sport artistic designs representing the City of Colorado Springs.

The works include depictions of Pikes Peak and the city's past as a railroad town.

"It lets the students show what they can do instead of having to show it at an art show just on campus, where it's just widespread out here in the open," Andy Kwiatkowski said.

Each work is covered with a protective coating to help prevent vandalism.
