PALMER LAKE — The Town of Palmer Lake is using a unique event to raise money for improvements to the lake and park that surrounds it.

The Try-athlon will take place Saturday. The event spoofs the town's annual .5K race.

While contestants won't be swimming, other challenges await them.

"You're gonna paddle yourself across your inner tube, and then once you get to this side of the lake you're gonna run to the flagpole, and then you'll pick up whatever set of wheels we can provide you," said organizer April Fullman.

The event starts at 10:30 Saturday morning. It costs $35 to join, and there will be homemade prizes and snacks.
