BACA COUNTY — Sunday morning, Colorado State Patrol reported a serious rollover crash in Baca County.
According to State Patrol, the crash happened around 5 a.m. Sunday morning on County Road 24.6, just north of 13th Ave. in Baca County.
State Patrol said the crash involved two 16-year-olds who were driving a stolen 2006 Pontiac car. The vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed when it crossed railroad tracks and the driver lost control.
The vehicle rotated several times before rolling two and a half times and coming to rest on its roof, according to State Patrol.
Both teens walked from the scene and were later taken to Southeast Colorado Hospital by family members. The driver was later flown to Swedish Medical Center with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger was treated and released.
State Patrol said that neither teen was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The agency also said that alcohol and drugs are suspected to be factors in the crash.
No further information has been released at this time.
