COLORADO — Drive Smart Colorado is reporting that we're actually getting better at wearing our seat belts.
Recent numbers from a state survey indicate Colorado is at it's highest average seat belt use ever. The survey shows that 86 percent of Coloradans are choosing to buckle up.
The organization credits the increase to efforts by CDOT, law enforcement , and other partners in educating.
''Our young people are being raised in a culture of wearing seat belts and it's second nature to them, and that is driving up the teenage seat belt use rate," said Maile Gray with Drive Smart Colorado.
In the past, young people had the lowest rate of seat belt use.
El Paso County has the highest teenage seat belt use rate in the state.
