COLORADO SPRINGS — It was a fun, fall day for some kids in Colorado Springs Saturday.

They got to learn something as well.

Kids ranging from kindergarten to eighth grade got to explore the different properties of pumpkins at a spooky, outdoor lab at Venetucci Farm.

The event was sponsored by The Catamount Institute and allowed the children to experiment with dry ice, electricity, and learn more about pumpkins.

"So the more students and kids are exposed to these ideas and concepts and these terms, the more prepared they'll be for their greater education in ways that they can make those connections not only in school but in their everyday lives." Program Coordinator Janelle Ross said.

The kids also got to take a pumpkin home.
