EL PASO COUNTY — Colorado State Patrol is investigating a deadly crash that occurred in El Paso County Monday afternoon.
The accident happened around 1:30 p.m. on Falcon Highway, east of Colorado Springs.
According to State Patrol, a 62-year-old man was westbound on Falcon Highway in a pickup-truck and entered the eastbound lane.
The pickup hit the front end of a Peterbuilt semi and impacted the fuel tank. After coming to rest in the grass off the road, the semi caught fire and ignited a grass fire on both sides of the road.
The driver of the pickup died on scene. The 41-year-old man driving the semi was uninjured.
State Patrol said the crash remains under investigation.
