Sheriff's Office warns of latest phone scam

EL PASO COUNTY — The El Paso County Sheriff's Office has received a report of another phone scam.

The caller threatened if the victims did not pay and if they did not return their phone calls, legal action would be taken against them. In theses most recent cases, they are using the name of actual employees of the Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office would like to remind everyone their office never calls or sends texts to inform individuals they have an active warrant, missed court, or any legal action. They also want to remind you to not give any money or personal information over the phone. They will also never call to inform people they owe money and won't ask individuals to make payments. THey also don't collect money for any other government agency.
