Pueblo Zoo welcomes baby Takin

The newest resident of the Pueblo Zoo is a baby Takin.

PUEBLO — The Pueblo Zoo is happy to announce the arrival of their newest resident.

A baby Takin was born on June 6 to resident mother Takin, Tashi. This is her fifth pregnancy.

The zoo said the sex of the youngster is still unknown but they should know within the next few weeks.

Takin are a species of ungulate (hooved mammal) native to the eastern Himalayas.

The Pueblo Zoo is now open to members and will open to the general public on Wednesday, June 10.
