PUEBLO — Pueblo Police say speeding in the city is becoming a growing problem.

The department says they are not only seeing an increase in speeding but also in illegal street racing.

According to the department's Traffic Sgt., $75,000 in state funds will be used to allow more officers work overtime and catch people who are speeding.

"This grant is critical in our success to slow people dow. It allows our officers to go out and I communicate with them on places of concern. Obviously, Northern Avenue is one of those and we have several others around town," Sgt. Shelly Taylor said.

Just a reminder, there is an ordinance on the books allowing Pueblo Police to impound your vehicle if you choose to elude them.
