PUEBLO — Pueblo Police are trying to fund a program that helps officers in tough situations.

The department wants to use $11,000 from the state to help its peer support team with training.

The team is made up of firefighters and officers who help other first responders after a major event like an officer involved shooting.

Pueblo Police say the group is used quite often and it helps prevent officer suicides.

Pueblo City Council still has to approve the request.
