PUEBLO — Not everything is bad in 2020, as the Pueblo Police department is reporting that major crimes are down through the first quarter of the year.

PPD is reporting that major crime is down 4% compared to this point last year and believe COVID-19 & stay-at-home order are part of the reason for it.

"Our belief is that the numbers are low because of the vast majority of people are following to stay at home order and only utilizing trips for essential services and generally staying at home thinking that's what's helping us with the crime rate," explained Pueblo Police Sgt. Franklyn Oretga.

Homicide, sexual assault, robbery and auto theft numbers are all up, while aggravated assaults, burglary, theft and arson numbers are all down.
