PUEBLO — The history of the relationship between the Pueblo Police Department and the federal Drug Enforcement Agency has been a good one and a successful one. Over the past decade, Pueblo Police say that the local-federal partnership has produced hundreds of arrests and taken thousands of pounds of illegal drugs off the streets of Pueblo. And the two agencies are looking forward to continuing the trend.

Sergeant Franklyn Ortega with Pueblo P.D. told News5 that "our officers get information and techniques that they wouldn't normally have at the local level." Conversely, Sergeant Ortega says that there are benefits to the Feds from the local resources that are available in helping them when it's needed.

The plan is to assign four Pueblo Police officers to the D.E.A. task for this joint operation in the future.
