PUEBLO — Pueblo Mayor Nick Gradisar is proposing a new way to help local business during COVID-19.

Mayor Gradisar and other Pueblo leaders want to take $5 million out of the half-cent sales tax meant for job creation and job development to help local businesses.

"It is important for us to try and put them in a position trying to help them when were ready to lift the stay at home order and they're ready to open up again," said Pueblo Mayor Nick Gradisar. "So we can get them up and running as quickly as possible."

The Pueblo Economic Development Corporation has already approved the plan.

The Pueblo City Council will vote on the proposal Monday night.
