PUEBLO — Pueblo School District 70 announced Wednesday that following a recent Board of Education meeting, the decision has been made to continue remote learning in the new year.

The statement from the district said, using projected pandemic modeling from epidemiologists at CU-Boulder Medical Center, it is estimated that the peak infections of the current COVID pandemic surge will occur approximately 8-12 days following New Year’s Eve. Due to this projected increase in positive cases, and citing the safety of staff and students, the District will continue remote learning through at least Jan 14, 2021.

The DRAFT plan presented during the meeting could have elementary and middle school students returning to in-person learning as soon as January 18, with high school students continuing in remote learning. This draft plan will be brought back before the Board of Education on January 5, 2021, for further review, changes, and refinements.
