PUEBLO — The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region is looking to recruit volunteers who want to help out at the Pueblo animal shelter and that begins through a series of information nights.

These information nights are held throughout the year and in order to volunteer, you have to attend one. The next information night is coming up on March 4, but you have to pre-register online in order to reserve your spot as space is limited.

"Last year they logged in over 110,000 hours for HSPPR and that saves us about $3 million every year and those funds go to our live-saving programs," Kate Aviv with HSPPR said.

HSPPR says these information nights are designed to educate you on the organization's mission and policies. After the information night, you can submit an application and background check. If you're approved, you will attend a volunteer orientation and be on your way to volunteering at the shelter.

On top of helping out with the adoption process or walking dogs, volunteers will help prepare surgery kits and more. If you would like more information on how you can get involved, click here.
