COLORADO SPRINGS — January 9 may be considered the most dangerous day for Colorado workers because that's when the most work-related injuries happen.
Pinnacol Insurance, the state's biggest Worker's Compensation provider, says they record an average of 198 claims on January 9. Some of the most common injuries on this day are falls, slips, trips, and strains.
Safety consultant Ellen Sarvay says there are many factors behind these accidents. She says often people are just getting off of vacation, and click conditions from weather coupled with brain fog can cause workers to get hurt at a higher rate.
Sarvay also says different types of industries have more accidents, and it's important for job sites to help prevent work injuries by creating policies and procedures.
