COLORADO SPRINGS — The United States Postal Service announced it is temporarily removing some collection boxes, including several in Colorado Springs, due to potential upcoming "civil events."

10 boxes in the downtown Colorado Springs area will not be available.

The USPS said the blue collection boxes "will be replaced after this potential threat is over."

A full list of boxes that will be removed can be found here.

Hours will also be restricted at the main post office branch in downtown Colorado Springs this weekend. Windows will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

The USPS said these temporary measures are to protect postal property, employees, and the public.
