Police searching for shooting suspect in southeast Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS — A man was shot in the leg after running from a suspect in southeast Colorado Springs Wednesday night, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.

The department said the man was walking home near Astrozon Boulevard and Aerotech Drive around 10 p.m. when he was approached by the suspect who demanded the victim empty his pockets. The man ran away from the suspect and was shot in the leg.

The victim waved down a driver who was passing by and was taken to the hospital while the suspect ran away from the area. The man who was shot has serious injuries, but not life-threatening, according to police.

The department said the suspect is described as a man who was wearing all black and is described as being 6' to 6'2" tall with a medium build. He was wearing a black snapback hat and black face covering.
