COLORADO SPRINGS — Two armed robbery suspects are in custody after police caught one in a tree and the other swimming in Prospect Lake.

According to CSPD around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, two masked suspects, who police identified as Jacob Edwards and Jaron Jones, entered the 7 Eleven on South Hancock Ave. After threatening the clerk with a handgun, the suspects took cash and cigarettes and fled the scene.

With help from a K-9, officers were able to find one of the suspects in a tree around Memorial Park. A short time later police found the other suspect walking out of Prospect Lake.

Jones was also identified as the suspect in the May 27 robbery at the 7 Eleven at 1702 South 8 St. During that robbery, police said Jones sprayed the clerk with pepper spray and threatened that he had a gun on him. Jones fled the scene with packs of cigarettes.
