Colorado Springs Police Department investigating a homicide, victim identified

The Colorado Springs Police Department is investigating a homicide in the 200 block of Nichols Boulevard.

On Friday at approximately 6:43 a.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department received a call for assistance and located a deceased man suffering from obvious trauma.

The man was identified as 42-year-old Brian MacDonald of Colorado Springs.

The incident is being investigated as a possible homicide but the cause and manner of death will be made by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office.

Detectives are working to get more information about the incident and identify those involved.

Detectives were able to identify the suspect as 21-year-old Demar Ravenell and obtained an arrest warrant for murder in the first degree.

Investigators learned Ravenell had an arrest warrant for murder out of South Carolina.

On Feb. 7, Ravenell was arrested at a home in Pueblo.
